I know David has mentioned this on the old forum, but I was checking the x-mas TV guide and it's on the 28th, then continued on the 29th. I loved the original series and the book, and also enjoyed the Film version aswell, even though it differd from the book slightly. It stars Brian Cox and Dugray Scott, so it should be good.

Just caught a trailer for it and it looks excellent. I'm with you, ukmum, let's hope they don't do a 'Survivors' on us and screw it up!

Watched first part last night, apart from obvious hockum, which included surviving a plane crash in central London and the speed the Triffids "took over" I enjoyed it.

  6. I think I've read so many excellent post-apocalptic books (Autumn being the best, of course!) that I'm always gonna be disappointed by the way in which they are transferred to screen. There was alot of potential in this but gaping plot holes and huge coincedences ruined it really and Eddis Izards character was so needlesss! I want a real drama about survival with proper grit and realism!
I think I'm expecting too much.
    (Did love Dr Who though!!).

It was definately no patch on the book..John Wyndham is my favorite writer of all time (no offence David lol)
Certainly no survival tips to be had in this version but enjoyable entertainment nevertheless.

I really enjoyed it. I felt they stayed pretty close to the book. Some of the acting was a bit off though. The Triffids looked good I thought, and London looked slightly more devastated than in the Survivors! You can tell that they had to aim it the average TV licence payer though.
