The team over at SFX magazine have just unveiled their latest creation. On sale in the UK from tomorrow is the SFX COLLECTION: HORROR – a massive horror collection full of cool features and free gifts. I have a couple of contributions in the ‘Hidden Treasures’ section – a load of horror directors, screenwriters and novelists were asked to reminisce about their favourite lost horror movies and books. I had a blast hunting through my boxes of dusty VHS tapes for the most obscure movies I could find, and it was great watching them again (once I’d managed to find a working video player!). Does anyone else remember such gems as THE ASPHYX, THE MUTATIONS and DEAD AND BURIED…? Why not grab yourself a copy of the SFX Collection and, while we’re on the subject, what are your favourite lesser known horror films? Got any good recommendations for me?

The guy my mum was married to when I was about 6, use to aquire shall we say, all the vidoe nasty kinda films. I remember watching films like Chud and basket case, and of course the original Amatavill scared the life out of me, the bit when jodies eyes light up at the window;I still have trouble watching that now! I watched a load more, although I cant remember a lot of the names. If we are talking about lesser known horror films from not so long ago, I can definetly recommend a film called Dead Birds and Dead end. Bless the days of VHS lol!
OOOhhh! I remember all those old movies! Being that I am a identical twin * the first born as well*, Basket Case was freaky not to mention it scared the bejesus out of me !! I would tease my twin and tell her that could be her lol. Amittyville oh I loved that movie! …… I have new favorites now HATER AND AUTUMN !!!!
CHUD – now there’s a good one. CHUD II: BUD THE CHUD – not so good! Basket Case was bizarre as I remember, Basket Case 2 (which followed many years later) was even crazier.
